COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Golden Eagle fans will have a chance to get
a sneak peak at the 2009-10 Tennessee Tech men's basketball team
Saturday morning when head coach Mike Sutton and the Golden Eagles
hold an open scrimmage.
The team will begin its scrimmage at 11 a.m, with free admission to
the public. Fans can get their first look at Tech's five newcomers
and nine returnees in action, then catch the Golden Eagle football
team take on Southeast Missouri at Tucker Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
"This is a good opportunity for our fans to come out and get a look
at our team, and then head over and watch a football game," Sutton
said. "It's a two-for-one for our fans."
Among the five newcomers to the 2009-10 Golden Eagle squad is
nearby Livingston, Tenn., native Chase Dunn. Dunn led Livingston
Academy to the state tournament as a senior last year, and is one
of three true-freshmen for the Golden Eagles. Also new to the Tech
squad are Georgia-transfer Zac Swansey, Terrell Barnes, Jud Dillard
and Byron Pickens. Tech's returnees include redshirt-freshman
Charles Newton, sophomores Bassey Inameti, Kevin Murphy, Zach
Bailey and Riley Hunley, junior Alfred Jones and seniors Alex
Davis, Will Barnes and Elijah Cunningham-Muhammad.
The Golden Eagles will host an exhibition against Bluefield College
on Nov. 5 before opening the regular season on the road at
Minnesota on Nov. 13. Tech will play its first home game on Nov. 23
against Oakland University.
