Golden Eagles put up fight at ITA Fall Regional
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Every team's goal in a season is to win a
championship. And a championship starts with practice. The
Tennessee Tech men's tennis team knows how to win championships as
they have won the past three straight OVC titles. But they also
know that what it takes in practice. In order to be the best, you
have to play the best.
That is what they did when they traveled to the Wilson/ITA Fall
Regional held at the University of Kentucky Oct. 16-18. Sophomores
Dean O'Brien and Josh Girling teamed up and advanced to the round
of 16 before bowing out to one of the finalists.
"We played hard and showed some teams that we are there," said Head
Coach Dan Silverstein. "These kinds of matches will help us come
spring."
The men wrapped up their fall season with the ITA Regional with
some strong showings. Besides the normal eight other teams in the
OVC this spring, the men will travel to several strong regional
teams including ACC opponent Florida State who reached as high as
the top 15 last season.
