Change in schedule has men's golf team opening this weekend on East Coast
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The first thing new Tennessee Tech men's
golf coach Craig King had to do was make a change in his team's
schedule. Instead of opening the fall portion of the schedule next
week in Mississippi, the Golden Eagles will get the 2008-09
campaign underway a few days earlier and several hundred miles to
the east.
Tech will travel to Sunset Beach, N.C., to participate in the Sea
Trail Collegiate, hosted by Elon University. The 54-hole tournament
will feature 18 holes Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Jones
Course. The field will include as many as 20 teams.
King will take a veteran lineup to the event, with six players who
earned a spot in the lineup through qualifying play including five
seniors.
Tech's opening lineup will include junior Wes Korth, along with
seniors Josh Simer, John Fox, Greyson Painter and Jake Heatherly.
In addition, senior Jared Dunn will compete individually in the
tournament.
"The team and I are eager to get the Fall season started," King
said. "Everyone is playing well and I believe this group will get
the Golden Eagles off to a flying start."
