Bio
Corey followed up his first season with a solid showing in '09
Spring drills, but suffered an injury in the final week that
sidelined him...will miss some strength and conditioning workouts
this summer during his rehab...one of hardest workers on the
squad...only thing keeping him from more playing time has been
injuries, including ankle injury in Tennessee-Kentucky All-Star
game just before embarking on his Tech career...after going through
'08 Spring drills at cornerback, he made the move to wide receiver
and saw some playing time as a freshman...has learned the new
system and is ready to earn additional playing time...a real
student of the game, he showed a strong knowledge of his
position...an elusive runner with the ball...excellent hands.
At Tech (In 2008): Corey was on the field in 11
games as a redshirt freshman, lining up at receiver and also
spending time on special teams...caught seven passes for 62
yards...had four receptions for 36 yards at Murray State for
career-highs.
(In 2007): Sat out the entire 2007 season as a
medical redshirt after ankle injury and surgery.
HIGH SCHOOL: Corey was a standout two-way player
at Sevier County High School, seeing time at quarterback and
defensive back...a versatile player, he also lined up at wide
receiver and kick returner on his way to earning Region 1-5A
Offensive Player of the Year in his final two seasons...was also a
two-time first-team all-region pick as a defensive back...a
Tennessee-Kentucky All-Star game selection...during his prep
career, he scored 80 points and returned three punts for
touchdowns.
PERSONAL: The son of Don and Rhonda Watson... born
June 27, 1988... full name is Corey Shea Watson... enrolled in
pre-pharmacy curriculum.
