Justin brings great range to his linebacker position...became a
full-time player as a true freshman, and brings the experience to
the Bandit outside linebacker position in 2009...excellent
understanding of the game...has a nose for the
football...right-place-at-the-right-time type of player...played
three different positions as a true freshman...showed great
progress during Spring drills and should be ready to step into a
much larger role.
AT TECH -- (In 2008): Justin was on the sidelines for the
first three games of his freshman season, but once he got into the
action he became a central figure in Tech's linebacking
scheme...played the final nine games and was a starter at the
Bandit spot in six contests...led the team with two
interceptions...finished the year with 25 total tackles...had 3.5
tackles-for-loss and a quarterback sack...made four solo tackles at
Western Michigan in his first collegiate action...followed with
career-high eight tackles and two interceptions in win over Central
Methodist to earn OVC Newcomer of the Week honors...returned one of
those picks 31 yards for a touchdown...had six stops against
Eastern Kentucky.
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time all-region selection and two-time
Super All-Metro pick at Bob Jones High School...also named the
team's Defensive MVP the past two seasons...a preseason Huntsville
Super 11 selection, he lived up to that billing with 49 total
tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, 4.5 quarterback sacks and one
interception.
PERSONAL: The son of Eddie Vann and Cynthia
McAllister...born July 8, 1990 in South Bend, Ind...enrolled in
computer engineering curriculum.
