Travis had a solid freshman season, and continued to develop
during the '09 Spring workouts...heads into his sophomore season
listed at the top of the depth chart at the Rock position in the
defensive line...has a very good career ahead of him...brings a
combination of skills and athleticism...continued gain in his size
and strength will help him to continue steady improvement...has the
aggressive ability to be a great pass rusher...figures to be an
important part of Tech's plans along the defensive front.
AT TECH -- (In 2008): Played in all 12 games as a
true freshman and proved to be an active defender...finished his
first season with 14 total tackles and also blocked a kick...also
broke up a couple passes...had 2.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.5
quarterback sacks...made career-high three assisted tackles against
Jacksonville State...had two quarterback hurries at Austin
Peay...blocked a PAT attempt at Louisville.
HIGH SCHOOL: Travis came to the Golden Eagles out
of Wilson Central High School...earned first-team all-region and
first-team All-Midstate honors playing a dual role as a receiver
and defensive end...on offense, he had 12 catches and one
touchdown...on defense, he compiled 38 total tackles, five
tackles-for-loss, one sack, four QB hurries, one interception and
recovered two fumbles.
