Golden Eagles fourth after day one of OVC Championships
MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Round one of the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Championships came to a close for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team Sunday afternoon, with the Golden Eagles ranking fourth overall.

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Round one of the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Championships came to a close for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team Sunday afternoon, with the Golden Eagles ranking fourth overall.
Competing at the Fighting Joe Course at The Shoals, part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the purple and gold posted a 305 on day one of action, placing fourth among the seven league teams. Austin Peay ended the day at the top of the leaderboard, posting a 295.
Ranking at the top of the individual leaderboard were Austin Peay's Erica Scutt and Murray State's Payton Carter, each finishing with 1-under 71s.
For the Golden Eagles, Heidi Lawson paved the way by tying for seventh among the 33 participants. The senior carded a 3-over 75, tallying a pair of birdies to go along with 11 pars. Tying for 11th overall was Hannah Bratton, finishing just one shot back of her teammate. The fellow senior produced a 76 backed by a birdie and 13 pars.
A pair of the Cookeville crew were next on the charts, tying for 15th overall with scores of 77. Junior Gittle Sciolis turned in two birdies while Ainsley Simms collected one birdie with 11 pars.
Rounding out the Tech lineup was Elisabeth Toennessen, tallying a 79 for round one. The junior tied for 21st after securing one birdie and 10 pars.
Play for round two is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. CT, with the Golden Eagles beginning their day at 8:40 a.m.
