Panthers not the only opponent Saturday as Tech women set for ThinkPink / Play4Kay contest

As Tennessee Tech women’s basketball suits up for Saturday’s contest against Eastern Illinois, it won’t be in the traditional colors of Purple and Gold. Instead, with their minds on those in their lives affected by cancer as the team hosts its annual ThinkPink and Play4Kay game, the Panthers won’t be the only thing the Golden Eagles are looking to defeat. Tipoff from the Eblen Center is at 1 PM Saturday. Saturday’s game will honor those who have been affected by all forms of cancer, as every member of the Golden Eagle women’s basketball program will be playing, coaching or serving in honor of someone dear to them who has been impacted by the disease.

Tech sends Samford to the doghouse on Education Day

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With nearly 6,000 screaming school children from across the Upper Cumberland, the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team put on one heck of a show as the Golden Eagles pulled away for an 82-60 victory over the visiting Samford Bulldogs on Thursday. Officially, the announced attendance of 5,845 stands as fourth in the women’s basketball program’s top attendance list, just behind the last two Education Day contests. The Golden Eagles (6-2) definitely fed on the energy with two players collecting double-doubles and four in double-figure scoring.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Reagan Hurst was on fire against East Tennessee State before an injury tripped her up in the victory. After missing the game against No. 18 USC, Hurst returned to the starting lineup and didn’t miss a beat as the graduate guard powered Tennessee Tech to a 68-55 victory over Lipscomb on Monday night. Hurst finished the night shooting 50 percent from the field as she knocked down six of her 12 shots, including a 4-for-5 effort from 3-point range – missing her personal best by one. Hurst also went 2-for-3 at the line to finish the game with 18 points to lead all scorers.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After a terrific performance this past Wednesday in their exhibition contest, the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team is ready to tip things off for real as the Golden Eagles officially open the 2025-26 campaign on Monday night against the University of the Cumberlands. The game starts at 6 p.m. at the Hooper Eblen Center. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Jill Jelnick and Steve Smith on the call.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team put on a show on Wednesday night during its preseason exhibition at the Hooper Eblen Center as the Golden Eagles topped Tennessee Wesleyan 127-52. With the game being an exhibition contest, statistics and records do not count, but if they did the result would have stood as the most points scored in the Eblen Center and the second-most points in program history behind a 133-point outing against Chattanooga in 1974.
