Tech women's basketball hosting Legends Weekend Friday and Saturday
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team would like to welcome back all alumni this upcoming weekend for exciting hoops action as well as a chance to meet up with old friends and teammates as the team hosts its annual Legends Weekend on February 21-22. It’s an exciting time for the Golden Eagle program and its alumni as Tech women’s basketball recently celebrated its 500th Ohio Valley Conference victory – the first program in the league to reach that milestone. Tech also collected its 31st 20-win season on Saturday, continuing the program’s tradition of excellence, and presently stands in a first-place tie for the regular-season championship.

It's an exciting time for the Golden Eagle program and its alumni as Tech women's basketball recently celebrated its 500th Ohio Valley Conference victory – the first program in the league to reach that milestone. Tech also collected its 31st 20-win season on Saturday, continuing the program's tradition of excellence, and presently stands in a first-place tie for the regular-season championship.
The 1989-90, 1994-95 and 1999-2000 championship teams will also be honored as those teams celebrate anniversaries.
With the Saturday men's game against Tennessee State selected as a Wild Card broadcast, the start times have been flipped with the men's game coming first at 1 p.m. and the women's contest following at approximately 3:30 p.m or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the men's game.
That has changed the alumni events schedule just slightly, so here's the details:
- On Friday, all WBB alumni are invited to the Tech women's practice from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a meet-and-greet with the team following the practice.
- Friday evening, there will be a combined men's and women's basketball alumni dinner, hosted by Frank Harrell, at Nick's Restaurant starting at 6:30 p.m.
- On Saturday, all WBB alumni are invited to join the team in its pregame meal, starting at 12 p.m. With the schedule change, the venue has shifted to the Academic Wellness Center (old Fitness Center, adjacent to the Hoop) in Room 216.
- During the women's game, all WBB alumni will be recognized during the second-quarter media timeout. All alumni should report to the tunnel at the end of the first quarter.
- Following the game, all WBB alumni are invited to the Eagles Nest (4th floor) for a social to celebrate the program's 500th OVC victory.
Complimentary tickets to the game will be provided for all WBB alumni and their guests.
