Tech women host Morehead State Saturday afternoon
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After an exciting win Thursday night in the Hooper Eblen Center, the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team will be back in action Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles take on Morehead State. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. Roger Ealey and Frank Harrell will have the call on 106.1 The Eagle, while Dylan Vazzano and Steve Smith will broadcast the game on ESPN+ (subscription required). The game is also an Upper Cumberland Night with $5 admission for Upper Cumberland residents.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After an exciting win Thursday night in the Hooper Eblen Center, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will be back in action Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles take on Morehead State.

The Golden Eagles put together a thrilling 83-79 victory over defending Ohio Valley Conference champion and preseason favorite Southern Indiana on Thursday night to improve to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in league play.
Tech stands behind 3-0 Eastern Illinois and 3-1 Southern Indiana in a tie at 2-1 in the conference standings.
Saturday is the 99th meeting between the Golden Eagles with Tech leading the all-time series 66-32.
After a slow start to the season, Morehead State has won five of its last eight contests, including a three-game winning streak with victories over USC Upstate, Jackson State and Alice Lloyd. In conference play, Morehead State dropped a 102-63 contest to UT Martin, then defeated Tennessee State 68-51. On Tuesday, the Eagles fell 79-65 to Southern Indiana.
Morehead State is averaging 72.3 points per game, while allowing 70.6. The Eagles shoot .415 from the field, .266 from 3-point range with an average of 5.1 3-pointers per game and .648 from the free-throw line with 14 made per game.
Kate Novik leads the team with a 14.7-point, 5.8-rebound average, while also dishing out a team-best 66 assists and tied for the team lead with 12 blocks with Katie Dike. Aileen Marquez also averages double-digit scoring with 11.5 points per game.
Tech has won three of the last four games and four of the last six. The Golden Eagles opened conference play with a 20-point victory at Western Illinois, then dropped a 67-54 decision at Lindenwood. Tech rebounded Thursday with a thrilling win over the Screaming Eagles.
As a team, the Golden Eagles are averaging 69.7 points per game and allowing 62.8. Tech is shooting .419 from the field, .352 from long-range with 7.3 3-pointers per game and .722 from the free-throw line with an average of 13.8 free-throws per game.
Tech has four players averaging double-digit scoring, led by Reghan Grimes with 13.7 points per game, followed by Peyton Carter (11.3 ppg), Chloe Larry (10.4 ppg) and Taris Thornton (10.0 ppg) with Anna Walker (9.3) and Keeley Carter (9.3) close behind.
Peyton Carter leads the team in assists with 44, Walker leads the Golden Eagles with a 7.3-rebound average and 19 blocks, while Grimes has a team-best 25 steals.
