Katie Lowery repeats as OVC Field Athlete of the Week
Tennessee Tech's Katie Lowery has earned her second consecutive weekly honor from the Ohio Valley Conference, repeating as the leagues Female Field Athlete of the Week after a record-setting pole vault effort.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech sophomore Katie Lowery has
been honored by the Ohio Valley Conference for the second
consecutive week, repeating a the league's Femaile Field Athlete of
the Week following her record-setting effort in the pole vault.
Lowery broke her own school record in the pole vault at the MTSU
Valentine's Invitational, winning the event when she cleared the
bar at 10 feet. She became Tech's first athlete to achieve 10 feet
in the pole vault both indoors and outdoors, holding the school
record in both.
Joining Lowery in reaping the conference honors were Soufiane
Bouchikhi from Eastern Kentucky as the Male Track Athlete, Kat
Pagano of EKU as the Female Track Athlete, and Tyler Carter of
Eastern Illinois as the Male Field Athlete.
The Golden Eagle track & field team is out of action this
weekend, gearing up for the Feb. 25-26 Ohio Valley Conference
Indoor Championships at Eastern Illinois.
