School record, three personal best marks fall at SIU meet
Sophomore Katie Lowery set a school record in the pole vault and three runners set personal best marks Friday when the track & field team competed in the SIU Invitational.
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Sophomore Katie Lowery broke her own school record in the pole vault and three runners established personal best marks Friday when the Tennessee Tech women's track & field team competed in the SIU Indoor Invitational.
No team scores were tallied at the event, which featured student-athletes from a dozen schools.
Lowery cleared the bar at 9 feet, 7.25 inches to place ninth in the event, topping by one inch the school standard that she established last year.
Senior Ifey Eguzo ran a personal best time of 8.22 seconds in the 60-meter dash, while two personal best times came in the 400-meter run. Danielle Catlett was Tech's top finisher in the event in 1:01.53 for her best career time, while Jenna Philpot also bettered her own best by crossing the line in 1:04.53.
In the high jump, senior Katherine Lynn tied for sixth place with a jump of 5 feet, 3 inches.
