COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As Tennessee Tech head softball coach Danielle Penner looked to complete her staff, the veteran coach knew she wanted someone who was familiar with the competition in the Ohio Valley Conference and what it took to win the league. When the opportunity arose to bring in Alli Robinson, a decorated student-athlete at UT Martin and in her days on the Division II level at West Virginia Wesleyan, Penner jumped at the chance to add her valuable experience to the Golden Eagle coaching staff.
PEORIA, Ill. – As the Ohio Valley Conference crowned its 2025 tournament champion on Saturday, there was an additional piece of hardware granted to the Tennessee Tech softball team as sophomore outfielder Alina Schlageter was named to the OVC All-Tournament Team. The fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers in the tournament earned one spot on the all-conference squad and their selections were made in tandem with the head coaches, sports information contacts and OVC staff. The champions received four spots on the team, the runner-up three and the third-place team two.

As to be expected, there were tears. Teammates had just completed their careers. The season was over and the thoughts wander to next year. The 7-2 loss to the defending conference champions on Friday was a tough one to swallow in the moment, but that was just the conclusion of the year’s journey.

Moving into double-elimination play, the Golden Eagles had a tough outing in the second game as the defending OVC champs topped Tech (20-34) 6-0.
PEORIA, Ill. – Before the Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship gets underway on Wednesday, the league announced its All-OVC honors on Tuesday. Tennessee Tech got one selection on the teams as infielder Sydney Kirby made the second-team roster. Tech senior pitcher Payton Wagner was named the OVC co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon to give the Golden Eagles their third OVC Pitcher of the Week honor this season after Addison Abell won the award on February 10 and Lainey Fitzgerald on February 24. The highlight of Wagner’s week was undoubtedly her five-inning no-hitter on Sunday as the Golden Eagles run-ruled Morehead State 8-0 in five innings to lock up the No. 7-seed in this week’s tournament.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Day turned out to be a great day for Tennessee Tech’s softball seniors as the Golden Eagles completed the sweep over Morehead State, locked up the No. 7-seed in next week’s Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship and put together some great performances. The top of which was Payton Wagner throwing the program’s 20th no-hitter in its history and the first since Alyssa Arden threw one in 2019 to top Jacksonville State. Tech won game one 8-0 in five innings, then topped the visiting Eagles 3-1 in the second game.

The originally scheduled start of noon was pushed back nearly seven hours before the game got underway and Morehead State took a quick lead with a two-run home run for Kendra Lewis, but that was it for the visiting Eagles (8-39, 6-18 Ohio Valley Conference).

With the anticipated weather Saturday, the schedule has shifted to a single game on Saturday, starting at 12 p.m. (weather permitting) and a doubleheader Sunday starting at noon. As of Friday morning, the weather forecast fluctuates between a 73 to 99 percent chance of precipitation between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, so there is a potential for delays. The team will also honor the dedication and commitment of its seniors on Sunday as they celebrate Senior Day, honoring Sydney Kirby, Ashlyn Riggs, Abby Shoulders and Payton Wagner. The quartet will throw out the ceremonial first pitch to their fathers pregame, then will be honored at the conclusion of Sunday’s second game.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- With the potential for inclement weather this weekend in the Cookeville area, this weekend's Ohio Valley Conference series against Morehead State has changed from its original setup. Instead of the originally scheduled doubleheader on Saturday, one game will be played on Saturday. The start time is still scheduled for 12 p.m., but with the forecast, the possibility stands that the start time could change. Updates on the start time will be available on the team's social media accounts and on TTUsports.com. The doubleheader will now be on Sunday as the team celebrates Senior Day. The start time is scheduled for 12 p.m. with the Senior Day festivities after the second game.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Once again, the Tennessee Tech softball team battled with Chattanooga, the top team in the Southern Conference, as both teams went through the first five innings with nothing doing. But the host Mocs scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and UTC was able to hold on to win 2-0 on Wednesday.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team takes on its final non-conference opponent of the season Wednesday as the Golden Eagles take on Chattanooga. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. Central. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).
ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Tennessee Tech lead the entire game, but Lindenwood rallied in the bottom of the seventh to walk-off the game with a 4-3 victory on Sunday to sweep the series. The Golden Eagles (16-32, 8-16 Ohio Valley Conference) return to action on Wednesday as Tech travels to Chattanooga for a single game for a 4 p.m. Central contest. The Golden Eagles will then close out the regular-season slate Saturday and Sunday at home against Morehead State.
ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Tennessee Tech saw Lindenwood hold on to take both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday as the Golden Eagles fell 2-1 in the day’s opener, then was held to just three hits in the second game, falling 7-3. Tech (16-31, 8-15 Ohio Valley Conference) got two of its four hits in the first game from Abby Shoulders, who went 2-for-4, while Olivia Evans and Sydney Kirby also had base knocks.
