Tech to host SIUE, Jacksonville State over the weekend
The Tennessee Tech tennis team will host SIU Edwardsville and Jacksonville State over the next few days. SIUE comes to Cookeville on Saturday for a 12 p.m. CT match, while the JSU Gamecocks will head to town on Monday for a 1 p.m. CT match
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team will host SIU Edwardsville and Jacksonville State over the next few days. SIUE comes to Cookeville on Saturday for a 12 p.m. CT match, while the JSU Gamecocks will head to town on Monday for a 1 p.m. CT match.
Tech's three freshmen have guided the Golden Eagles this season, led by Eduardo Mena, who recently moved up to the No. 2 spot. Mena is currently on a nine-match winning streak, and is 4-0 in the OVC. Jorge Alfonzo has stepped up in the No. 6 spot, and is 4-1 in OVC. The third freshman making moves is Carlos Tajes. Tajes is also 4-1 in the OVC.

SETTING THE STAGE
The SIUE cougars come to town with a 8-8 over all record, and 3-2 in OVC play. The Cougars will head to Jacksonville State on Friday before heading back up to Cookeville. The Cougars are led by junior Jacob Perkins who has a 12-2 overall record, and 4-1 in conference play. Perkins is undefeated in the No. 2, 4, and 5 spot, while playing 3-2 in the No. 3 spot. The Golden Eagles have a 4-0 record against SIUE all-time, having only faced them since 2010. The Cougars sit in fourth place in the OVC, one spot behind Tech.
The JSU Gamecocks have a 7-10 record, while are 2-2 in OVC play. They will host SIUE prior to coming to TTU. The Gamecocks have relied on sophomore Dylan Gee who is 9-4, and 4-0 in OVC play in the No. 2-4 spots. Tech has a 9-5 record against JSU all time, but lost last season 3-4 in Jacksonville. The Gamecocks are currently in 6th place in a tight OVC race.
