Tech individuals complete day one of TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate
OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – A group of four Tennessee Tech men's golfers represented the purple and gold as individuals on day one of the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate on Monday, completing the first two rounds of play at President's Reserve at The Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn.

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – A group of four Tennessee Tech men's golfers represented the purple and gold as individuals on day one of the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate on Monday, completing the first two rounds of play at President's Reserve at The Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn.
At the top of the overall leaderboard was Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Jose Berenguel, who led the 92-man field with a 4-under 138.
Pacing the purple and gold were senior Alexander Bassel and sophomore Owen Bright, each tying for 72nd with two-round totals of 154. Bassel opened the day with a first-round tally of 80 with a birdie before slicing six shots off his score with three more birdies for a 74 in round two.
Bright produced back-to-back scores of 77 on the day, delivering 12 pars and a birdie in round one. He finished things off with 11 more pars and another birdie during the second round.
Senior Avery Irwin finished one shot back of his teammates, carding a 155 overall. The veteran produced an 80 to kick off the day before shaving five shots off the round for a 75 with two birdies.
Completing the action for the Golden Eagles was rookie Hil Thompson, totaling a 157 between the two rounds. He began the day with a 79 and two birdies, then secured a 78 in round two with another birdie and 13 pars.
The third and final round of the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate will open Tuesday morning with an 8:00 a.m. CT shotgun start.
