Tech closes final round of fall season at Xavier Invitational
CINCINNATI, Ohio. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team completed its 2024-25 fall slate Tuesday afternoon, finishing off the final round of action at Maketewah Country Club for the Xavier Invitational presented by Gateway Logistics.

CINCINNATI, Ohio. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team completed its 2024-25 fall slate Tuesday afternoon, finishing off the final round of action at Maketewah Country Club for the Xavier Invitational presented by Gateway Logistics.
The Golden Eagles concluded its final event of the season ranked 11th among the 12-team field, turning in a round of 298 for a final score of 899. Sharing the tournament title were host Xavier and Xavier's 'B' team, both ending the week with scores of 855. Austin Peay's Seth Smith claimed individual medalist honors after firing a 3-under 207.
For the fifth time in as many events this fall, Haden Maxwell paced the purple and gold, tying for 10th place among 64 competitors with a two-day total of 216. The junior carded a 2-under 68 on Tuesday to cap the week, sporting four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole.
Next on the leaderboard for the Golden Eagles, sophomore Alex Broyles finished off a 219 with a score of 79, tying for 21st overall. Freshman Hil Thompson turned in his best round of the event with a 75, totaling three birdies to total 230 for all three rounds.
Sophomore Matthew Shull concluded the fall with a tournament total of 235, posting a 77 on Tuesday with three birdies. Rounding out the Tech crew, senior Alexander Bassel tallied a 78 on the day, finishing the tournament with a 242 and three more birdies.
Tech will return to the links for its spring campaign in March, with a trip to St. Simons Island, Ga. and Sea Palms Resort for the People Golf Championships. Hosted by Western Carolina, the tournament will span Mar. 13-15.
