KENNESAW, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of the 2019-20 campaign Tuesday afternoon, completing the third and final round of the Pinetree Intercollegiate at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga.
The Golden Eagles turned in a 312 for their final round of the first half of the season, finishing the event with a 908 overall to finish 11th. The top of the leaderboard saw a big shuffle over the final 18 holes, with fellow Ohio Valley Conference schools Jacksonville State and Belmont each leaping from a tie for fifth place to the peak. The Gamecocks won the tournament with an 878 while the Bruins finished second with an 880.
Junior Will Brooks earned Tech's top finish, tying for 25th after carding a 227 overall. He turned in rounds of 75, 73 and 79 while leading the entire field of 59 golfers in par-5 scoring with a final mark of 7-under. That mark included three birdies on par-5 holes on Tuesday.
Next on the leaderboard for Tech were sophomores Chance Taylor and Cade Puryear, who finished just a shot behind Brooks with scores of 228. Taylor posted rounds of 77, 71 and 80 while Puryear chimed in with scores of 71, 81 and 76. Puryear's 4-over 76, was fueled by 11 pars and a pair of birdies.
Tying for 39th was Dabney Dickenson, who finished with a 230 overall. The senior showed the most consistency during the week, finishing with rounds of 76, 77 and 77. Freshman Nick Sutton rounded out the Golden Eagle lineup, turning in scores of 80, 76 and 83 for a 239 final score.
Belmont's Evan Davis captured individual medalist honors with a 202 and scores of 68, 66 and 68.
