Tech tied for No. 22 in AFCA FCS Preseason Top 25
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – There's just a little over two weeks until the Tennessee Tech football team opens the 2025 campaign on August 30 at home against Cumberland. On Monday, the Golden Eagles found themselves ranked on another Football Championship Subdivision Top 25 poll as the American Football Coaches Association, presented by Hudl, released its Preseason Coaches Poll. Tech split the No. 22 spot with Richmond and stood as the only Ohio Valley Conference-Big South Conference team among the top 25.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – There's just a little over two weeks until the Tennessee Tech football team opens the 2025 campaign on August 30 at home against Cumberland.
On Monday, the Golden Eagles found themselves ranked on another Football Championship Subdivision Top 25 poll as the American Football Coaches Association, presented by Hudl, released its Preseason Coaches Poll. Tech split the No. 22 spot with Richmond and stood as the only Ohio Valley Conference-Big South Conference team among the top 25.
UT Martin, Southeast Missouri, Tennessee State and Lindenwood all received votes in the preseason poll.
North Dakota State took the top spot, followed by Montana State, South Dakota State, Incarnate Word and South Dakota to round out the top five. The Golden Eagles are one of seven teams that were not ranked in the end-of-year poll after the 2024 campaign.
Tech finished in a four-way tie for the OVC-Big South championship last season and was predicted to finish first in the tandem conference race this season. The Golden Eagles were also picked No. 21 in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 last week.
The team continues practice this week at Tucker Stadium with practice sessions today, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 9 AM, while holding their second scrimmage on Saturday at 10 AM.
The Golden Eagles open the season on August 30 against Cumberland for the first of seven home games this season at Tucker Stadium as Tech looks to win the OVC-Big South title outright.
