Coutras named to Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American team
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech fans already know how much of a defensive talent Tim Coutras is. For the second-straight year, Coutras is getting to represent himself on a national stage as he was picked to the 2025 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America team on Tuesday, claiming a spot on the second team. Coutras is one of two picks from the Ohio Valley-Big South, with Charleston Southern’s Gilbert Brown also on the second-team special teams roster.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech fans already know how much of a defensive talent Tim Coutras is. For the second-straight year, Coutras is getting to represent himself on a national stage as he was picked to the 2025 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America team on Tuesday, claiming a spot on the second team.
Coutras is one of three picks from the Ohio Valley-Big South, with UT Martin defensive back JaMichael McGoy Jr. also on the defensive second-team roster, while Charleston Southern punter Gilbert Brown on the second-team special teams roster.
All 13 conferences and 54 institutions were represented on the full list, compiling 102 student-athletes across three teams.
Coutras, who was named to the third-team defense before last season, finished the campaign with 59 total tackles – 46 solo and 13 assisted – with three tackles-for-loss for 12 yards. He also forced two fumbles, intercepted three passes for 30 yards and broke up eight passes.
He had a season-best seven tackles twice last year against Western Illinois and Samford, broke up three passes against South Carolina State and had a 28-yard interception return against Charleston Southern.

The Golden Eagles open the season on August 30 against Cumberland for the first of seven home games this season at Tucker Stadium as Tech looks to win the OVC-Big South title outright.
