SEC/Miller Lite continues its support of Golden Eagle Football
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. ? -- SEC Enterprises Inc., the locally owned
and operated wholesale distributor of MillerCoors products,
continued its longstanding support of Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle
Football this year. The annual gift, part of its multi-year
commitment of more than $100,000, also included use of an equipment
truck for away game and team use.
"We are proud to be a part of the Tennessee Tech football
tradition," said Ottis Phillips, president of SEC Enterprises and a
former player from 1969 to 1972. "I've known Watson Brown for many
years and believe we're very fortunate to have him at Tennessee
Tech. Coach Brown's program and the excitement it has created will
only move the team forward."
In addition to programmatic support that Coach Brown can use for
recruiting efforts, Miller Lite has maintained a strong presence on
the Golden Eagle Sports Network and in the Cookeville
Herald-Citizen while adding support of the Watson Brown Coach's
Show on WCTE television.
Once again during the 2008 football season, fans listening to the
Golden Eagle game broadcast on WHUB-1400AM recognized the 'Miller
Lite First Down' for each conversion. The 'Miller Lite Good Call'
play of the game returned this year in the Herald-Citizen recapping
a critical play in each of TTU's games. Miller Lite signed on as a
segment sponsor for Coach Brown's weekly show featuring game
highlights, player profiles and upcoming news on WCTE.
"I personally am very appreciative of Ottis and Miller Lite for
their support," commented Brown, in his second season as Golden
Eagle head coach. "Leadership and commitment like this is the
future success of our program."
Miller Lite also hosted two tailgating events during Golden Eagle
home football games in an effort to encourage student and community
support. The Miller Lite RV traveled to Cookeville with games,
prizes and free food for fellow tailgaters.
"We're fortunate that year in and year out we have people in this
community like Ottis who believe in Coach Brown, this program and
Tech athletics," said TTU Director of Athletics Mark Wilson. "We
continue to make great strides in the success of our
student-athletes thanks to their support."
