2024 (Freshman): Schubert took part in 18 of the team's 22 matches on the year, finishing 4-13 overall with a 3-7 mark in OVC play… ended the year 2-8 in the No. 4 slot and 2-5 as the No. 5 duo… competed exclusively with McKenna Young (4-13, 3-7 OVC) during the season… made her collegiate debut with Young in the No. 4 position at South Carolina (Mar. 9)… earned her first career win with Young in the No. 4 spot against Lindenwood (Mar. 22)… picked up one of the team's two wins at the OVC Tournament with a decisive, 2-0 win over Lindenwood (Apr. 26).
High School: Schubert was a two-sport athlete at Assumption High School in Davenport, Iowa, earning four letters in volleyball as a right side for head coach Frank Flanagan and four letters in basketball as a post for head coach Jake Timm… led Assumption to four Class 3A state tournament appearances, including three in the semifinals alone and the school’s first championship as a senior… picked up Mississippi Athletic Conference MVP honors as a freshman and again as a senior… earned All-MAC First Team honors all four seasons… named MVP of the Class 3A All-Tournament Team… ranked the No. 4 player in the state of Iowa by PrepDig.com… amassed more than 1,400 kills and nearly 900 digs throughout her career… was also an All-Conference performer in basketball… led her club team, Iowa Select, to a national championship as the tournament’s MVP.
Personal: Daughter of Brian and Amy Schubert… born in Davenport, Iowa on October 4, 2004… full name is Ava Jayne Schubert… mother, Amy, played volleyball and was a three-time All-American and three-time Conference Player of the Year at St. Ambrose University from 1993-97, eventually earning a place in the Ambrose Athletics Hall of Fame… aunt, Michelle (Sicner) Schuster, played volleyball at Creighton from 2011-14, earning All-America Honorable Mention honors in 2013.
