| Title: | Graduate Assistant Coach |
Josh Girling wrapped up a successful playing career with the
Golden Eagles last spring by earning first-team all-OVC honors for
the second consecutive season as well as the team's MVP award. Now
he will try to transfer his playing experience to a coaching role,
working alongside head coach Kenny Doyle in a graduate assistant
position for the Golden Eagles in 2011-12.
After spending his first collegiate season at Fairleigh Dickinson
University, Girling transfered to Tech prior to the 2008-09 season
and became a key member of the team for three seasons. He finished
with an 82-64 combined overall record and a .562 career winning
percentage. In singles, Girling was 44-37 and his .543 career
winning percentage ranks 13th all-time at Tech. His .654 winning
percentage during the 2009-10 season, when he was 17-9, ranks as
the ninth best single-season in school history. In doubles, Girling
was 38-27 overall.
Josh attended Peter Symonds while growing up in Winchester, England and was a member of the cricket and soccer teams while being coached by Julian Godfrey on the tennis team. He helped his team finish in the top twice in the National Schools. At Tech he majored in psychology.
