Josh Lowery

Bio

Josh Lowery decided to hang up his uniform a year ago and put on a new hat, stepping into the role of administrative assistant for Golden Eagle coach Watson Brown’s Tennessee Tech football coaching staff.

This sason he'll take on coaching responsibilities, serving as a graduate assistant coach who will work with the Golden Eagle offense.

A local player, Josh was on the roster for two seasons at Tech in 2007 and 2008 following a transfer from East Mississippi Community College. In 2007, his first year at Tech, Josh had worked into a starting assignment when an injury sidelined him and he received a medical redshirt status. He led Tech to a win at UT Martin, and had the Golden Eagles rolling against Austin Peay when he suffered the knee injury and missed the final eight games.  He finished the year with a 121.32 QB rating, completing 59 percent (36-for-61) of his passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns.

He returned to action in 2008 and played in eight contests, earning a 124.5 quarterback rating to lead Tech. He was 81-for-125  for 64.8 percent, throwing for 756 yards with six interceptions and seven touchdowns.  In 11 games over his two seasons, he was 117-for-186 for 62.9 percent, piling up 1,162 yards and 10 touchdowns.

He had one season of eligibility remaining for the 2009 season before deciding to work from the sidelines rather than in the pocket.

A 2004 graduate of White County High School, Josh earned 10 total letters in four sports for the Warriors, including four in football, four in tennis, one in baseball and one in basketball.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Tech in December 2009 in Fitness and Wellness. Josh has one son, Rex (3). Josh’s great grandfather, Rex Vaughn, played football, basketball, and baseball for Tech and his great grandmother, Beulah White, played women’s basketball for the Golden Eagles. He also had three great uncle’s who played football at Tech - Kenneth, Ralph, and James Thomas Broyles.
