A walk-on defensive lineman when he arrived at Tech in 2007, Tyler went through one redshirt season, saw action in 2008 as a freshman, then missed all of 2009 with an injury...has moved across the line of scrimmage to tight end...impressed the coaching staff when he was on the field...shows the potential to develop into a contributor...good quickness...working to develop his strength...smart player and hard worker.

AT TECH (In 2009): Expected to play at defensive end, Tyler missed the entire 2009 campaign due to injuries.

HIGH SCHOOL: Tyler played his prep football for the Upperman Bees and joined the Golden Eagles as a walk-on...named to the all-region team as both a junior and senior, he also garnered all-state honors as a senior for coach Sam Brooks, a former Golden Eagle wide receiver...played his first two seasons under coach Phillip Wright...as a senior he notched 72 total tackles, including 23 tackles-for loss and 13 quarterback sacks.

PERSONAL: The son of Steve and Donna York of Cookeville...birthdate is January 23, 1989...full name is Stephen Tyler York...will study a pre-physical therapy curriculum.
