A talented and versatile player from Cookeville High School,
Zach Salada will don the purple and gold with the Golden Eagles in
2009.
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-way standout at runningback and
linebacker for the Cavaliers under coach Jerry Joslin...will work
into the Golden Eagle roster as a ball carrier...has good hand and
can catch the ball, making him a dual threat on offense...can have
a bruising presence, lowering his shoulder to get the tough
yard...considered to be a good blocker, as well...on offense, he
ran 172 times for 941 yards and 10 touchdowns during his senior
year...named to the Herald-Citizen All-Upper Cumberland first
team...at linebacker, he tallied 42 tackles and 5.5
tackles-for-loss...provided CHS with a decisive 15-yard
interception return for a touchdown in the Cavaliers’ 28-27
win over Siegel in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs...as a
junior, he rushed for a team-high 643 yards with six touchdowns.
