Antonio is battling for starting assignment at the "Z" outside
receiver position...hoping to make some big strides during the
summer off-season work to return to fall camp ready for a bigger
role...two-year veteran who continues to develop...improving his
routes and his quickness...has been a solid contributor, but has
potential to step forward into a much larger role...big wide
receiver with great athletic ability to make plays that other
receivers cannot...shed weight last year and was more effective and
quicker...off-season work will allow him to return even faster and
stronger...also working to be a more effective blocking
receiver...excellent attitude...hands are improving and his skills
are maturing...at six-and-a-half feet tall, Antonio is a serious
jump ball threat...should find his way onto the field during the
2009 season...comes into the season with receptions in seven
consecutive games.
At TECH - (In 2008): Antonio ranked fourth on the
team with 23 catches during the 2008 campaign, good for 290
yards...caught six balls for 98 yards against Eastern Kentucky,
both career-best numbers...had three catches for 69 yards at
Tennessee State, including season-long of 25 yards.
(In 2007): Got onto the field against Jacksonville
State and made his first career reception, nabbing a 25-yard pass
from Lee Sweeney.
(In 2006): Red-shirted during his first campaign
on the Golden Eagle roster.
High School: A three-year letterman in football
for coach Vic Grider, Antonio was also a standout four-year
letterman on the basketball team at South Pittsburg High
School...twice named all-state and a Mr. Football finalist as a
senior, helping lead the Pirates to the 2005 Region 3A championship
with a 6-0 record...squad went 10-2 overall and reached the second
round of the TSSAA state playoffs...practically unstoppable with 63
catches for 1,126 yards and 18 touchdowns...a two-time all-state
pick on the hardcourt who averaged 23.7 points and 14.2 rebounds
per game.
