Josh has lined up at several positions for the Golden Eagles in
his first three seasons on the roster, but rover could be the
perfect fit...played in all 12 games as a wide receiver during his
sophomore season, but made the move to the defense during 2009
Spring drills where he's at the top of the depth chart at the rover
position... versatile athlete...capable of playing a variety of
positions...started his career as a tight end during his redshirt
and freshman seasons...played wide receiver as a sophomore...has
also lined up at quarterback in practice...extremely tough
player...will use the summer to study the game and continue strides
in the weight room...looked sharp in his new role during the
Spring...excellent physical strength.
At TECH - (In 2008): Josh looked capable during
two-a-days, and appeared ready to make an impact as a
receiver...his contributions came as a blocker from his inside
receiver position...did not catch any passes...played in all 12
games, including special teams.
(In 2007): Josh played in 10 games in 2007 as a
tight end, and caught three passes for 14 yards...had receptions
against Murray State, Tennessee State and Auburn...longest catch of
the year went for 14 yards in Tech's win over Murray State.
(In 2006): Redshirt in his first season at
Tech.
HIGH SCHOOL: Josh earned four letters and numerous
honors while playing football for coach Chris Madewell at Warren
County High School...he also earned one letter on the track &
field team (200m, relays) and one in baseball (pitcher/first
base)...he was quarterback, linebacker, tailback and strong safety,
and also served as the holder on placekicks...as a senior he passed
for 1,041 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 867 yards and 13
TDs, giving him 1,908 yards of total offense... he also had 40
receiving yards...led the team to the TSSAA state playoffs for the
first time in 22 years...he set the school records for most passing
attempts and passing yards...named twice to the 3-5A All-Region
team...chosen Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman and voted
Offensive MVP as a senior.
PERSONAL: The son of Chris and Mary Jane
Paz...born August 12, 1987 in McMinnville, Tenn....full name is
Joshua Christopher Paz...enrolled in a pre-med course of
study...older brother of Golden Eagle linebacker Jonathan
Paz...grandfather Pedro Paz was member of the Golden Eagles OVC
championship team in 1959.
