One of the most improved players on the defensive side of the
ball during spring drills...Gerel comes off a redshirt season ready
to make an impact...lines up at the bandit outside linebacker
position...learned his position quickly in the team's new 3-4
system...showed the potential to be a standout player...continuing
his development...on the field he runs well, goes hard on every
play and shows a high intensity...capitalizes on his chances,
including two turnovers in the team's final spring scrimmage.
At Tech (In 2007): Gerel's first year on the
Golden Eagle roster found him in a redshirt role.
HIGH SCHOOL: One of two Cookeville High School
products fron the Cavaliers' 2007 senior class..played alongside
Shane Bates at CHS under coach Jerry Joslin...won the school's Jim
Ragland Award while earning first-team all-Region 3-5A and
all-Upper Cumberland first-team honors...real speedster, he was
also the district champion in the 100-meter dash during the track
& field season.
