Raymond is tired of watching from the sidelines, where he has
been the past two seasons...after a redshirt campaign in 2007, he
missed all of 2008 due to injury...hoping to return to full-time
action in 2009, despite sitting out Spring drills...natural ability
as a ball carrier, he has added skills as a receiver...breakaway
speed and could become a big part of the Golden Eagle offense if
he's healthy...talented, big and strong...one of the fastest
players on the roster...excellent first-step quickness...good
instincts as a runner...scored a touchdown (61-yard run at SEMO)
the last official time he had the ball in his hands.
AT TECH - (In 2008): Looking forward to filling a
key role at runningback, Raymond suffered a knee injury during
scrimmage action and missed the entire 2008 season...was looking
exceptionally strong when the injury occurred during two-a-days.
(In 2007): Sat out the entire 2007 season as a redshirt. (In 2006):
Raymond saw action in nine games as a true freshman...had 110
rushing yards as well as 75 yards on kick return...had only one
carry at Southeast Missouri, and broke it for a 61-yard touchdown
that helped lead to Tech's sensational comeback victory...averaged
4.8 yards a carry and 15 yards per kick return.
HIGH SCHOOL: A speedy runningback, Raymond adds
depth to the Golden Eagle backfield...earned four letters as a ball
carrier and defensive back for coach John Davis at Countryside High
School...also earned two letters as a sprinter/hurdler on the track
& field team...named all-county and all-conference, and also
received honorable mention all-state recognition...as a senior he
rushed for 887 yards on 80 carries and also piled up 115 return
yards...for his four-year career he chalked up more than 2,000
rushing yards and had three interceptions...helped Countryside
claim two district championships.
PERSONAL: The son of Raymond and Antoinette
Coleman...born December 30, 1987 in Clearwater, Fla....full name is
Raymond L. Coleman...enrolled in communications.
