A smart player and a student of the game, Taylor moved from
tackle to guard during spring drills, his more natural
position...could also play some snaps at center...one of the
leaders in the offensive line...will handle an important leadership
role...full-time starter at tackle in 2008, and expected to be more
effective on the interior line...projected starter at left
guard...outstanding student who has won numerous academic awards,
including the OVC Medal of Honor for the highest GPA in the
league...a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District winner in 2007 and
2008...shows improvement daily...great potential and athletic
ability...versatility will keep him on the field...displays
tremendous footwork and is a natural athlete...has made great gains
both on the field and in the weight room.
AT TECH - (In 2008): Taylor was the full-time
starter at tackle for the Golden Eagles as a sophomore.
(In 2007): Saw action in six games in his first
year on the active roster...played in a backup role at tackle.
(In 2006): Came to Tech in 2006 and spent one
season as a redshirt.
High School: Taylor earned eight letters in
varsity competition and also played three seasons on the lacrosse
club team at Webb School...lettered four years in the trenches,
playing on both sides of the line of scrimmage, for coach David
Meske...also lettered one year (discus) on the track team and three
years (heavyweight) on the wrestling team...named all-state on the
gridiron, serving as the team captain...won the Spartan Award...was
also captain of the lacrosse team...helped team to state runner-up
spot in 2005 TSSAA state playoffs...
