Slade spent his first season at Tech as a redshirt member of the squad, and showed tremendous progress...ready to move into a key role, and fits into the rotation at tackle...projected second on the depth chart at left tackle...excellent size...comes off the ball extremely well...excellent pass protection...moved from right tackle to left tackle early in spring drills and worked extremely hard at learning his new position...continued to develop his technique and strength in his redshirt year...should have an impact on the Golden Eagle offense in 2009.

Slade was on the roster as a redshirt in 2008, and worked with the Scout team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Slade attended Mt. Juliet High School where he was named first-team Class 4A All-State, in addition to earning all-region honors and being named the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman in the region...second-team All-Midstate...a 2007 Mr. Football finalist and played in the Tennessee East/West All-Star game...among his numbers as a senior were 47 pancakes.
