Attention golfers: Registration for Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble starts Tuesday
Golfers by the hundreds who are looking forward to playing in the 2016 Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble can get busy Tuesday (March 8), when Tennessee Tech begins taking signups and assigning tee times and courses for the June 3-5 event.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Hundreds of golfers who are looking forward to playing in the 2016 Pepsi Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble presented by Budweiser can't wait for Tuesday morning (March 8), when reservations will begin for Tennessee Tech's three-day, fund raising tournament, June 3-5.
Registration will open Tuesday for golfers interested in playing in one of the biggest golf tournaments in the Southeast. Golfers who register early will get the first choice of tee times and courses for play on Friday and Saturday. Registration is available online, on the phone or in person at the Eblen Center ticket office.
The competing golfers can take advantage of three practice rounds as well – one at each of the three courses - anytime after they have paid their registration in full for the tournament.
The field of 512 is expected to be completely filled for the tournament, so participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Over the past 35 years, the tournament has grown into one of the largest and most popular golf tournaments in the region.
The Bobby Nichols Scramble will be held at three area golf courses. The two-person scramble features 18 holes each day, with a championship flight and 17 additional flights determinted for Sunday's final round.
The tournament will be held at Ironwood Golf Course, Cookeville Golf Club and White Plains Golf Club.
"Each course can only handle a limited number of teams each day, so having a choice of courses and times is the best reason to not delay," said Frank Harrell, tournament co-director. "We are encouraging golfers who are interested in playing to call or go online as soon as possible to ensure they get a space. The earlier you register, the more choices you'll have in tee times and course selection."

Pepsi returns as the title sponsor for the 12th year with Budweiser in the 11th year as the presenting sponsor.
Tournament applications are being mailed to all past participants, former Tennessee Tech athletes and alumni across Tennessee.
One of the region's premier amateur tournaments for more than three decades, this year's scramble will continue to feature a competitive format.
With early registration, golfers will have the opportunity to choose -- until a limit is reached at each location -- which courses they will play for Friday's and Saturday's rounds along with their preference of tee times for those days. All teams will be placed in flights Saturday evening to determine which course they will play during the final round Sunday.
The Championship Flight will play one round at each course, with the final round at White Plains Golf Course on Sunday. Participants in the Championship Flight must declare for the championship.
"Early registration benefits the golfers since they get to choose their courses and they get to play their practice rounds as soon as they register," Harrell added.
In addition to the three days of golf and three practice rounds, participants will also receive a ticket to Doc Fields' Friday night golf party/concert, and the Cumberland Insurance BBQ on Saturday night, a chance at hole-in-one prizes and a chance at a million dollar shot. The entry fee also includes golf carts each day during the tournament and a gift for each competing golfer.
