COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- With the start of the Golden Eagle football season just one week away, the soccer season underway and vollleyball beginning Friday, the Purple Pride Caravan returns to Putnam County this Thursday with an afternoon visit to the Cookeville Wal-Mart.
Thursday’s stop is the seventh during a series of events around the region in anticipation of Tech’s fall sports seasons.
Caravans are sponsored by the station that bleeds purple and gold - Magic 98.5, and begin at 5 p.m., running until 6:38 p.m.
The Purple Pride Caravan is open to the public and gives Tech fans a unique opportunity to meet Tech cheerleaders, Tech mascot Awesome Eagle and coaches in a tailgating atmosphere, including free hot dogs and Pepsi soft drinks.
One lucky fan will win a trip for two with the Golden Eagle football team to their September 15 game at the University of Oregon. Tech apparel will also be given away, including jerseys from various sports. All prizes are sponsored by Magic 98.5, Pepsi, Wal-Mart, IGA and TTUsports.com.
No winners will be selected below the age of 18. Winners may not be a high school student-athlete or immediate family member of an athlete without jeopardizing collegiate eligibility at an NCAA institution. Complete rules for the contest can be found on the Magic985.com website.
Before parking for the season, the Purple Pride Caravan will also be making one final stop at the Algood Wal-Mart next Tuesday, August 28, just two days before the football season opener in Tucker Stadium on August 30.
