Student-athletes among Tennessee Tech graduates Saturday

A large number of student-athletes were scattered throughout the crowd of graduates Saturday morning and afternoon as Tennessee Tech celebrated its Spring Commencement.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- For 50 Tennessee Tech student-athletes, the battle is over, the race is won, and the degree is in their hands. Many of the 50 student-athletes scheduled to receive degrees were in the crowd Saturday during the University's two Commencement ceremonies in Eblen Center.

With the size of the graduating class growing every year, the University held a 9:30 a.m. ceremony for the College of Agriculture and Human Services, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering and School of Interdisciplinary Studies. At 2 p.m., the graduates from the College of Business and College of Education were recognized.

A few on the list were not able to attend since three Golden Eagle teams are on the road this weekend in Ohio Valley Conference competition. That list includes Ashley Mayhew, Ifey Eguzo and Danielle Catlett on the track & field team which is at the OVC Championships, Lacie Coquerille from the softball team which is playing a weekend series at UT Martin, and baseball players Cassanova Donaldson, Devin Rivers, Chad Oberacker and Trice Powers, all of whom are playing a weekend series at Austin Peay.
