Bio
Rich Froning returns to Tech as the newest Assistant Strength Coach under Chip Pugh, and a member of the TTU class of 2009. With his bachelor's degree in EXPW (Exercise Science, Physical Education and Wellness), Froning assists with the strength and condidtioning of all teams at Tech, and works specifically with baseball.
A native of Cookeville and graduate of Cookeville High (class of 2005), he was a member of the varsity baseball team for all four years, and worked with the Cookeville Fire Department post-graduation throughout his college career.
An avid CrossFit athlete, Froning began becoming active in XF in 2009, training with CrossFit Mayhem of Cookeville. In 2010 he took first place in the CrossFit Games South Central Sectionals competition and in the SouthEast Regional contest. He attended the 2010 CrossFit Games held at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.,. and came in second place overall, a ranking that is recognized internationally. This past August, Froning returned to the CrossFit games and won the championship, earning him the title of Fittest Man in the World.
Froning is recently engaged to Hilary Masters, also of Cookeville. The couple resides in the Cookeville area.
