RICHMOND, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed the first two rounds of action at the EKU Colonel Classic Friday afternoon, posting back-to-back rounds of 318 while competing at the University Club at Arlington.
Veteran Shelby Johnson led the way for the Golden Eagle lineup on the first day of play, posting rounds of 76 and 78 for a 154 overall. The junior tied for 35th among the field of 81 golfers.
Sophomore Kate Mashburn showed improvement over the day, shaving three strokes from her first-round score 81 to fire a 78 over the final 18 holes of the days. She ranked in a tie for 54th with round to play on Saturday, finishing with a 159.
Just one stroke behind her teammate, freshman Heidi Lawson carded a 160 behind rounds of 79 and 81. Youngster Isabel York tallied rounds of 82 and 81 to record a 163 and round out the scoring for Tech on the day.
Senior Lindsay Miller finished with a 166 after scores of 85 and 81. Competing as an individual, sophomore Hanna Bratton tied for 30th on the leaderboard heading into the final round after capturing rounds of 78 and 75 for a 153.
Also participating in the field for the Golden Eagles was junior Arianna Clemmer. She posted a 156 with scores of 75 and 81.
Round three of the EKU Colonel Classic is set to commence with an 8:00 a.m. CT shotgun start Saturday morning.
