Golden Eagles chart five personal best marks on first day of OVC Championships
CHARLESTON, Ill. -- The Tennessee Tech track & field team set five personal best marks Friday, and narrowly missed two school records, on the first day of the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships.
CHARLESTON, Ill. – Two school records were narrowly missed Friday and five personal best marks did fall for the Tennessee Tech track & field team on the first day of the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships, being held at Eastern Illinois University.
|Brooklyn Kimball ran a personal best in the 400-meter dash, and narrowly missed eclipsing the school record. Kimball, a senior from Memphis, covered the distance in 59.43 seconds, just a fraction of a second off the all-time best school mark of 59.34 seconds set by Allison Price at the 2010 OVC meet.
Tiara Hymon, a junior also hailing from Memphis, established a pair of personal records on Friday and just missed a school standard. She posted a time of 7.98 in the 60-meter dash, not far off the school record of 7.70 set by Bethany Burney in the 2004 OVC meet.
Hymon's second PR came in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.46 seconds.
Tech's two other personal marks came in the long jump and 60-meter hurdles.
Atlanta Westbrook, a junior from Columbia, Tenn., had a new individual best in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 11 inches. Chelsea Mills, a junior from Chattanooga, had her personal best in the 60-meter hurdles portion of the pentathlon, a grueling five-event competition. Mills had a time of 9.77 seconds.
Tech did not score any team points on Friday. The OVC Championship wraps up Saturday.
