Tech softball heads to Nashville for midweek against Lipscomb
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech gets back into non-conference play on Tuesday night as the Golden Eagle softball team heads down the interstate to take on Lipscomb. Game time is set for 6 p.m. The Golden Eagles (3-30) are trying to snap a 10-game losing streak with the last victory coming on March 14 in the doubleheader sweep over Western Illinois. Nine of the 10 losses have come in conference play, including a weekend sweep against Southeast Missouri with the Redhawks winning 11-0, 9-1 and 10-0 – all in five innings. Tech had five hits across the three games.

Lipscomb comes into the Tuesday contest with a 14-18 record, including 4-5 in the Atlantic Sun. The Bisons went 1-2 this past weekend at home against Stetson, with the sandwiched win breaking a five-game skid.
As a team, Lipscomb is hitting .222 with nine home runs and 81 RBI, but have been outscored 120-92. Team batting leader Presley Leebrick has a .326 batting average and has 16 RBI on the year, while Kamrie Rich has driven in 18 runs. Leebrick has 30 hits and 14 runs scored, while Elise Shewmaker has come across the plate 16 times. Rich also leads the team in home runs with three.
Emily Yakubowski leads the Bisons in the circle with nine victories to go along with a 2.58 ERA and 69 strikeouts, while Brinkley Kita has a team-best 1.49 ERA and 36 strikeouts with a 4-3 mark.
The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, are batting .235 on the season with seven home runs and 80 RBI.
Graduate Haeli Bryson leads the Golden Eagles in batting with a .298 average, 12 runs scored and a team-best 21 RBI. Carmen Betts also has a double-digit RBI total, driving in 11. Middle Tennessee transfer Abby Shoulders has a team-high 16 runs scored and seven stolen bases.
Graduate Callie Piper has two of Tech's three wins this season, posting a 7.51 ERA with 21 strikeouts. Gracelyn Woollen is looking for her first victory in the circle and has started to see her ERA drop down to 7.73 with strong innings in league play and a team-best 26 strikeouts.
Tech will follow the game in Nashville with an Easter weekend trip to UT Martin, facing the Skyhawks in a single game on Friday starting at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. The Golden Eagles return home next weekend for a visit from Eastern Illinois.
