Golden Eagles fifth through two rounds of Bash at the Beach
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men’s golf team worked through the first two rounds of the Bash at the Beach Monday afternoon, completing the first 36 holes of the 54-hole event at The Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team worked through the first two rounds of the Bash at the Beach Monday afternoon, completing the first 36 holes of the 54-hole event at The Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Golden Eagles ranked fifth among the nine teams in competition, tallying back-to-back rounds of 294 in the event hosted by Appalachian State. Tech sat just five strokes back of Appalachian State while holding a four-stroke lead over Delaware.
Leading the way for the Tech squad through the first two rounds was senior A.J. Wilkerson. The veteran carded rounds of 72 and 70 for a 142, tying for seventh overall among the 60 participants. Junior Matthew Giles posted an even-par 72 in round one, following it up with a 75 in the second round. He finished in a tie for 20th.
Next among the Tech finishers was Cookeville native Will Brooks. The freshman tied for 26th on day one, firing a76 over the first 18 holes. He wrapped up the day with a 149 after notching a second-round 73. Fellow rookie Bracton Womack was just one stroke back of his teammate, tying for 30th with a 74-76=150.
Rounding out the starting lineup for the Golden Eagles was senior Alexander Riddle, who posted scored of 82 and 84 for a 166.
Competing at individuals were sophomores Dabney Dickenson and Cameron Yeary. Dickenson enjoyed a strong performance, posting a 76 in round one before turning in a 2-under 70 in the second round. He finished tied for 17th while Yeary tied for 41st after carding a 73-81=154.
The third and final round is set to commence Tuesday morning with tee times beginning at 7:00 a.m. CT.
