Spring 2017 (Freshman): Giles took part in four of the team’s five spring tournaments, rounding out 12 rounds of action… notched a spring-best performance at the OVC Championships (Apr. 24-26), carding a 73-73-77=223 to tie for 21st… scored his spring-low 71 in the third round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (Mar. 19-21)… took home the team’s Best Putter honor after ranking second on the team with a scoring average of 75.33.
Fall 2016 (Freshman): Giles played in four of Tech’s five fall events, completing 12 rounds on the links… posted three top-25 finishes, including a season-best tie for 11th at the Samford Intercollegiate (Oct. 31-Nov. 1)… carded a 72-77-77=226 at the event… tied a career-best single-round score with a 69 in the first round of the season at the GolfWeek Program Challenge (Sept. 11-13)… also shot a season-best 217 at the event… led the team in scoring average in the fall with a 74.42 mark.
Spring 2016 (Freshman): Giles participated in all five of the team’s five spring events, finishing 14 rounds of action… claimed two top-20 finishes, including a 14th place showing at the OVC Championship (Apr. 25-27)… carded a spring-best 73-71-74=218 at the Grover Page Classic (Mar. 14-15)… tallied a spring-low round of 70 over the second 18 holes of the OVC Championship… garnered the team’s Impact Award after ranking third on the team and OVC with a scoring mark of 74.64.
Fall 2015 (Freshman): Giles took part in five of the team’s six fall tournaments, completing 14 rounds of play… became the first Tech player ever to earn OVC Male Golfer of the Week honors three times in the same year… broke Tech’s all-time freshman scoring record in the season-opening GolfWeek Program Challenge (Sept. 6-8), carding a season-best 70-71-69=210 to tie for 12th place… carded a season-low 69 at the same event and finished 6-under for the entire tournament… took home first career All-Tournament honors at the Kenny Perry Invitational (Oct. 12-13), tying for second place overall with a 71-70-76=217… tied for third at the ASU Fall Beach Classic (Oct. 25-27), gathering another All-Tournament nod… fired a 73-70=143 at the rain-shortened event… concluded fall play with a scoring average of 73.64, ranking in the top-10 in the OVC.
High School: Giles lettered for four years under head coach Rob Daugherty at Alcoa High School… led his team to the 2013 Class A/AA State title, tying for fifth individually… tied for eighth place in the 2012 state tournament, helping his team to a runner-up finish… helped guide AHS to two district championships and three region titles… took home All-Blount County honors three times and was named First-Team All-State twice… took home PrepXtra First-Team honors after helping Alcoa win the 2013 state title by 17 strokes… posted a scoring average of 35.4 per nine holes as a senior and a mark of 37.9 for his prep career… tied for 15th at the Tennessee Junior Amateur and at the Scott Stallings/Under Armour AJGC Championship.
