Davenport leaves Mercer to follow Lamb to Tech's offensive staff

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – When Dominique Davenport was an assistant coach at Mercer, he oversaw the cornerbacks, while fellow Bears coach Tre Lamb worked with the quarterbacks on the offensive side of the ball. As Lamb joined the Tennessee Tech staff as the Golden Eagles’ offensive coordinator, Davenport’s efforts impressed Lamb and head coach Dewayne Alexander, giving Davenport a new opportunity as he will oversee Tech’s running backs.

Tech hosts Austin Peay in Homecoming tilt this weekend

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- As the Tennessee Tech football team gets set for a Homecoming battle with Austin Peay on Saturday, there's still plenty on the line. A Golden Eagle victory puts Tech in the driver's seat for the Sergeant York Trophy, and following a 30-26 win over Tennessee State last week, a chance to build some momentum to head into the offseason with. Saturday's game starts at 1:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast by ESPN3 as the Ohio Valley Conference's Game of the Week with Kevin Ingram and Bob Belvin providing the call. Roger Ealey and Dylan Vazzano will provide the broadcast duties for the Golden Eagle Sports Network on 98.5 KISS FM.

Davis INTs, Goldsmith TDs lead Tech to win over Tennessee State

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Winless no more. After eight long weeks, all the Tennessee Tech football team wanted to do was get a notch under the win column, to get proof that the process was indeed working. With renewed vigor following the off-week and with the Sergeant York Trophy in play, the Golden Eagles made a statement on Saturday, earning a huge 30-26 victory over visiting Tennessee State.

The Fighter: Tech's Yeedee Thaenrat faces adversity head on

A prizefighter comes out of their corner, knowing that they could get knocked down. Maybe once, maybe twice, maybe again and again. But it is their spirit, their will that keeps them coming back. Unbowed. Undeterred. Unintimidated. It's about the fight -- the challenge to be the best one can be.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri put two scores on the board quickly and that turned out to be all the homestanding Redhawks needed on Saturday afternoon, beating Tennessee Tech 31-3 at Houck Field. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 0-7, 0-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference play.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – With the way Nick Madonia was kicking the ball on Saturday, there was no doubt that he was the player that head coach Marcus Satterfield wanted in the potential game-winning situation. There were just 10.2 seconds remaining. Madonia was lined up to attempt a 49-yard field goal. Surely, it was nothing – he had already kicked a 51-yarder into the wind earlier to try to keep the Tennessee Tech football team on top.

Byrd leads effort, but Tech falls to No. 5 Jacksonville State
Byrd leads effort, but Tech falls to No. 5 Jacksonville State

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Earlier in the week, Tennessee Tech head coach Marcus Satterfield challenged senior wide receiver Dontez Byrd to provide more leadership. And considering the numbers Byrd put up on Saturday night against FCS No. 5 Jacksonville State, it’s safe to assume that the senior listened. Byrd caught six passes for 92 yards and a touchdown to lead the Golden Eagles, but the effort came up short as the defending Ohio Valley Conference champions defeated Tech 34-7 at Tucker Stadium.
