2016 (Freshman): It didn't take long for Yeedee Thaenrat to make an impact with Tech football. In just his first 11 games, Thaenrat led the team in rushing with 707 yards on 159 carries with six touchdowns. Thaenrat also caught 17 passes for 176 yards and was second on the team in total offense behind quarterback Michael Birdsong and second in all-purpose yardage behind Dontez Byrd. Thaenrat was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference newcomer team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played three years for Coach Mike McKay at Father Judge High School in Philadelphia. In his senior season, he rushed for 943 yards and 10 touchdowns and also recorded 43 tackles. In his junior season, he rushed for 1,545 yards and 25 touchdowns, then also recorded 98 tackles, forced 12 fumbles and picked off two passes. In his sophomore season, he rushed for 1,246 yards and 13 touchdowns, while he also had 74 tackles, three interceptions and forced six fumbles...was named an all-state defensive back, all-southeastern Pennsylvania running back and defensive back, all-city defensive back and running back and all-Catholic running back and defensive back.

PERSONAL: Born March 8, 1997 in Monrovia, Liberia...lived in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Philadelphia.

ACADEMIC: Plans to major in basic engineering.

Davenport leaves Mercer to follow Lamb to Tech's offensive staff

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – When Dominique Davenport was an assistant coach at Mercer, he oversaw the cornerbacks, while fellow Bears coach Tre Lamb worked with the quarterbacks on the offensive side of the ball. As Lamb joined the Tennessee Tech staff as the Golden Eagles’ offensive coordinator, Davenport’s efforts impressed Lamb and head coach Dewayne Alexander, giving Davenport a new opportunity as he will oversee Tech’s running backs.

Tech hosts Austin Peay in Homecoming tilt this weekend

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- As the Tennessee Tech football team gets set for a Homecoming battle with Austin Peay on Saturday, there's still plenty on the line. A Golden Eagle victory puts Tech in the driver's seat for the Sergeant York Trophy, and following a 30-26 win over Tennessee State last week, a chance to build some momentum to head into the offseason with. Saturday's game starts at 1:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast by ESPN3 as the Ohio Valley Conference's Game of the Week with Kevin Ingram and Bob Belvin providing the call. Roger Ealey and Dylan Vazzano will provide the broadcast duties for the Golden Eagle Sports Network on 98.5 KISS FM.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Earlier in the week, Tennessee Tech head coach Marcus Satterfield challenged senior wide receiver Dontez Byrd to provide more leadership. And considering the numbers Byrd put up on Saturday night against FCS No. 5 Jacksonville State, it’s safe to assume that the senior listened. Still the Golden Eagles found a way, rallying in the fourth quarter, and even had a chance to win it. But false start penalties proved costly, running crucial time off the clock and Eastern Kentucky ruined any chance of a Tech comeback win, sacking Andre Sale for the final of the contest and sealing a 24-21 defeat.

Golden Eagles rally in fourth, but fall to Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. – In the second half, the Tennessee Tech football team looked like a different team. The first half saw costly turnovers in the red zone, too many big plays and some penalties that slowed things down a bit. But in the second half – more specifically the fourth quarter – the Golden Eagles showed some promise, outscoring Kennesaw State 14-3 in the final two periods.

Tech football opens season Thursday vs. FCS No. 25 Western Illinois

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – All the weeks of grit, work and sweat have culminated in this. As the coin is flipped and the first ball is kicked off, the season will have begun for the Tennessee Tech football team as the Golden Eagles host Western Illinois on Thursday night. The game is scheduled for a 6:04 p.m. kickoff.

Golden Eagles show improvement in second scrimmage

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With some sun and heat instead of the dark and rain, Saturday’s football scrimmage at Tucker Stadium saw a lot more positives for the Tennessee Tech football team. There were fewer mistakes, more explosive plays and plenty to make Golden Eagle fans salivate about the start of the 2017 campaign.
