Tech Homecoming chosen as ESPN3/OVC Game of the Week
Tech's 2014 Homecoming game against Southeast Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 8, has been selected as the OVC Game of the Week in the eight-game package announced by the league office for stream on ESPN3.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Already having two games chosen as Wild Card
possibilities, Tennessee Tech's 2014 Homecoming contest against
Southeast Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 8, has been selected as the
OVC Game of the Week in the eight-game package announced by the
league office for stream on ESPN3.
Tech's games against Murray State (Oct. 4) and Eastern Illinois
(Nov. 1) are in the mix for the Wild Card games for those two
dates.
On Friday the OVC revealed the final two games that are part of the
league's eight-game football "Game of the Week" package that will
be carried exclusively on ESPN3 this fall.
The seventh game in the package will be played on Saturday, Nov. 8
when Southeast Missouri travels to Tennessee Tech for a 1:30 p.m.
CT kickoff. The final game of the schedule is on Saturday, Nov. 15
when Eastern Illinois plays at Jacksonville State at 3 p.m. CT.
Last season Tennessee Tech topped Southeast Missouri 41-16 in Cape
Girardeau. TTU quarterback Darian Stone turned in a great
performance in the win, rushing for 162 yards and three touchdowns
and completing 13-of-22 passes for 135 yards. Overall the two teams
have split the last four meetings with Tech holding a 13-9
advantage all-time in the series. This season Southeast Missouri
returns 17 starters while Tennessee Tech has 31 players back who
started at least one game last year.
The Eastern Illinois/Jacksonville State matchup will pair two
teams who reached the FCS Playoff Quarterfinals a season ago. The
two teams played in November last season with No. 2 Eastern
Illinois besting No. 22 Jacksonville State 52-14 on Senior Day to
secure the OVC Championship. EIU running back Shepard Little would
go on to earn National Player of the Week honors after rushing for
two touchdowns, catching a touchdown and throwing a touchdown all
in the first quarter of the game. Overall EIU leads the all-time
series with JSU by a 6-5 margin.
This marks the second-straight season the league has produced the
Game of the Week package in conjunction with WebStream Sports.

provide analysis. The duo has worked together each of the past two
