Punter Chad Zinchini tabbed as BSN preseason All-America

Tennessee Tech senior punter Chad Zinchini has earned second-team preseason All-America recognition for 2013 from the national website BeyondCollegeSports.com.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech senior punter Chad Zinchini impressed plenty of people last season, his first year on the Golden Eagle roster.

Not only did the Hendersonville, Tenn., kicker earn all-OVC and All-America nods following the season, his ability to boot the ball left a lasting impression with the folks who are putting together preseason awards lists for 2013.

On Thursday, Zinchini was named second-team preseason All-America by BeyondSportsNetwork.com, a national website that has chosen presason All-America teams for five different football classifications.

Zinchini led the Ohio Valley Conference and ranked fourth in the nation last year in punting with an average of 44.8 yards on 65 kicks, setting a school record in the process. He downed 19 of his kicks inside the 20-yard line with only five touchbacks, and avoided having any of his punts blocked.

Zinchini is one of 13 players from the Ohio Valley Conference listed on either the first, second, or third-team FCS squads. In addition to the conference players, the FCS list also includes two players from Tech's Sept. 28 opponent, Indiana State including runningback Shakir Bell and kicker Tanner Fritschle.

Wisconsin, Tech's Sept. 7 opponent, has two players on the FBS preseason All-America team.
