Tech men play one of toughest schedules in country; women travel to Western Michigan

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Coming off a season that saw it ranked as high as No. 51 in the ITA Poll, the Tennessee Tech men's tennis team will play one of the most challenging fall schedules in the country. The Golden Eagles will travel to several key tournaments in Georgia, Oklahoma and Alabama.

The women's tennis team are not that far behind the men in terms of challenges on its schedule. For the first time in years, the team will travel to Wake Forest to play in the Wilson/ITA Fall Regionals. Before they do that, the women will visit Western Michigan University.

"We will be pushed hard this fall," said first year head coach Dan Silverstein. "These tournaments will make us better and more prepared for our spring matches."

The Golden Eagle men will visit three different SEC schools this fall.

The men travel this weekend, Sept. 18-20, to two-time defending NCAA National Champion Georgia and the Southern Intercollegiates. Afterwards, the team will also visit Tulsa for the All-American qualifiers as well as the Alabama Crimson Tide Invitational.

The men's team's Wilson/ITA Fall Regional will be played at Kentucky on Oct. 16-19

While the men are at Tulsa, the women will see action at the Western Michigan Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Sept. 25-28.

"Our women will see some very tough players this fall," Silverstein said. "These tournaments will be very challenging, but it is what we need to get ready for the OVC come springtime."
