Purple and gold travel to Morehead, Ky. for 2023 OVC Championships
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech cross country teams are set to leave it all out on the table Saturday morning, heading for Morehead, Ky. and the 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Championships.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech cross country teams are set to leave it all out on the table Saturday morning, heading for Morehead, Ky. and the 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
The men's 8K will kick off the action at 8:00 a.m. CT with the women's 6K to follow at approximately 9:00 a.m. The event is free with ample opportunities along the route to watch the athletes.
The course will begin at the driving range and wind through parts of holes No. 9 and one, then skirting along 18, before finishing back near the start. The path will be two kilometers long with the women making three loops and the men four.
The purple and gold head into this year's league championships with plenty of momentum, as both teams turned in top-10 showings at the Angel Mounds Invitational in Evansville, Ind. in the regular-season finale.
Pacing a seventh-place performance for the men was Miceal McCaul, clocking in with a time of 25:14.0 to finish ninth among the 174 runners. McNeese transfer James Hyland delivered a time of 25:23.9 to place 15th.
On the women's side, veteran Helen Pacurariu-Nagy led the Golden Eagles to a sixth-place finish thanks to a display of 22:17.5 to finish 16th among 168 runners. Rookie Makaleigh Jessee was right on her heels, sprinting to a mark of 22:20.6 to place 17th.
The Field
All 11 OVC squads will take part in this year's championships, including host Morehead State, Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Little Rock, SIUE, Southeast Missouri, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, and Western Illinois.
