Tech women's golf team wraps up first day of play at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at its own tournament Sunday, fielding a pair of squads at the eighth annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at its own tournament Sunday, fielding a pair of squads at the eighth annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.
Competing on the Highlands Course at Sevierville Golf Club, the Tech Purple Team concluded the first 18 holes in ninth among 13 teams in action with a 316. The Tech Gold Team was right behind, finishing 10th with a score of 320.
Eastern Kentucky paced the leaderboard with a 297, backed by one of two individual leaders among the field of 65, Ragga Kristinsdottir and her 70. Tusculum's Jennifer Keim also shared the lead following her own 70.
Senior Hannah Bratton led each of the 10 Golden Eagles in contention on the day, taking the top spot on Purple Team with a 4-over 75. She ranked tied for 10th heading into day two of play.
Making her collegiate debut with the Purple Team, Ainsley Simms was the next member of the purple gold on the leaderboard, tying for 26th with a 78 in her first official round as a Golden Eagle. Junior Heidi Lawson ranked in a tie for 32nd after turning in a 79.
Two members of the Gold Team also tied for 32nd overall, with redshirt senior Arianna Clemmer and senior Kate Mashburn each posting their own 79s on the day. Sophomores Gittle Sciolis and Makenzie Morton, also representing the Gold Team, were the next set of Golden Eagles on the scoreboard, tying for 44th with each carding an 81.
Grimstad, Norway native Katrine Toennessen tallied an 84 to tie for 51st while her twin sister and fellow sophomore Elisabeth Toennessen concluded the first round in 57th with an 85. Rounding out the Tech action on Sunday was senior Isabel York, posting an 87.
The second round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate will kick off Monday morning with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT.
