Biscuits and Basketball, Maintain The Tradition events scheduled for Oct. 14
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech women’s basketball will hold their annual Biscuits and Basketball meet and greet event on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Hooper Eblen Center. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and the public is invited to get a first glimpse of the 2023-24 Golden Eagle roster and take part in the annual Maintain the Tradition free throw fundraising event. This year promises to be an exciting one as the Golden Eagles are coming off their second consecutive 20-win season, an OVC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament win, the team’s first since 1990. The 2023-24 roster returns the nucleus of last year’s championship team along with a group of talented newcomers.

Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and the public is invited to get a first glimpse of the 2023-24 Golden Eagle roster and take part in the annual Maintain the Tradition free throw fundraising event.
This year promises to be an exciting one as the Golden Eagles are coming off their second consecutive 20-win season, an OVC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament win, the team's first since 1990. The 2023-24 roster returns the nucleus of last year's championship team along with a group of talented newcomers.
Fans are encouraged to support their favorite player in the Maintain the Tradition free-throw fundraiser slated to begin around 10 a.m. Each Golden Eagle player will shoot a total of 100 free throws. Fans can pledge an amount of money for each free throw made by a specific player or donate a flat amount to the program on behalf of a specific player. The pledge sheet can be found here or fans can pick one up at the event.
In 1986, Head Coach Bill Worrell put out a media guide cover that he entitled Maintain the Tradition, which was a homage to what Tennessee Tech's first head coach, Marynell Meadors, began in 1970.
A tribute from one TTU legend to another quickly grew into an important and yearly mainstay for the program. Coach Worrell would grow the concept into a support system that helped fund the women's basketball program. He would eventually expand Maintain the Tradition to include the free throw challenge.
Coach Kim Rosamond and staff revived Worrell's vision in 2017, and it is again the largest fundraiser for TTU women's basketball. Funds raised through Maintain the Tradition have a tremendous impact on recruiting, travel and educational opportunities for women's basketball student-athletes. Last year the team raised more than $32,000 to support the program.
"Our staff and players are so grateful to Golden Eagle nation for their continued generosity and support of our program," said Rosamond. "We strive to give our student-athletes an elite experience in all areas, and these funds are vital to help us continue to elevate our program in the competitive and changing landscape of college athletics. Our fans love women's basketball, and their donations impact winning in many ways behind the scenes."
The Biscuits and Basketball event will be sponsored by Ben Prine and Chick-fil-A of Cookeville.
The Tech women host Christian Brothers University on October 26th in an exhibition contest as part of the Purplepalooza event. Doors open at 4 p.m., and admission is free to the public. The women will tip off at 5:30 p.m. Regular season non-conference play begins on November 6 against Ball State in Muncie, Indiana.
