Bio
In 2016-17 (Junior): Hickson led the Golden Eagles in scoring all season long, ending the year averaging 16.9 points per game in overall and OVC only contests...saw action in all 30 of Tech's contests, including 29 starts...scored in double-figures for 23 of the 30 contests, including 10, 20+-point games and three 30+-point showings...recorded two double-doubles; her first at Southeast Missouri (Dec. 29, 2016; 30 points and 12 rebounds) and her second versus Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 28, 2017; 14 points and 10 boards)...tallied a career-best 37 points at Belmont on Jan. 21, 2017...ended the season averaging 30.2 minutes and 4.0 rebounds per contest...shot a team-best 84.7 percent from the free throw line...shot 43.5 percent from the floor and 32.3 percent from downtown...set career-highs in rebounds (12 at SEMO; 12/29/16), assists (6 vs. UT Martin; 2/1/17), and steals (5 vs. Austin Peay; 1/5/17)...named to the All-OVC first team.
In 2015-16 (Sophomore): Played in 27 games, including 21 starts... set a career-high 23 points against Belmont (1/30) where she also played a career-high 30 minutes... Grabbed a career-best seven rebounds at Jacksonville State (2/6) and posted a career-high six assists against Martin Methodist (11/10)... Scored in double-figures 10 times... averaged 8.1 points and 2.4 boards per game...her 85.7 free throw percentage (42 FTM-49 FTA) placed her second in the Tech record books for free throw percentage in a season.
In 2014-15 (Freshman): Shug played in 29 games, including making nine starts … made her first career-start against Clemson (12/6), where she recorded her career-high 36 minutes, and swiped a career-high two blocks… also had two blocks against Jacksonville State, as well as a career-high 13 points (2/14)…grabbed a career-best six rebounds against Morgan State (12/21) … scored in double figures seven times … averaged 6.3 points per game.
High School: Yaktavia was part of back-to-back Georgia state championship teams in 2012 and 2013 in Class AAAA … during her junior season, she averaged 15.6 points, 3.9 steals, and 2.7 assists … was recognized as a Top 20 player and Player of the Month in January 2013 by the Dekalb County Tip-Off Club … was one of just two Georgia players to be named to the Prospect Nation’s Elite 150 players ... maintained a 3.6 GPA, and was an Honors and Distinction student … was a participant in the Magnet Program and the Youth Entrepreneurship of Georgia Program.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team hosted their first annual "Night with the Golden Eagles" Wednesday evening, putting an official close to the 2016-17 season with an end-of-year awards banquet.
The Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team’s (10-20, 7-9 OVC) season came to a close on Thursday evening when they fell to SIUE (14-16, 9-7 OVC) 77-69.
For the first time since the 2013-14 season, the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team (10-19, 7-9 OVC) has secured a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament as a No. 6 seed.

But a surge in the second half allowed the Golden Eagles to rally and take the game into an extra session. However, Lipscomb's Loren Cagle hit a layup with two seconds remaining in overtime. Tech had the ball one last time, and Treyvonna Brooks attempted a last-ditch 3-pointer to win the game, but the shot was no good with the Bison taking a 71-69 victory.
