2024 (Freshman): Played in 34 games with 10 starts ... batted .250 with seven hits, including two doubles ... drove in one run and came home to score 14 times ... stole seven bases on nine attempts ... finished with a 1.000 fielding percentage with 21 putouts and two assists ... had two multi-hit games -- Presbyterian (2/10/24) and Norfolk State (2/10/24) ... had three multi-run games -- Presbyterian (2/10/24), Norfolk State (2/10/24) and Rhode Island (3/12/24) ... had two games with two stolen bases -- Presbyterian (2/10/24) and Rhode Island (3/12/24).

HIGH SCHOOL: Schlageter, as a junior, batted .442 with a .534 on-base percentage, combined with 14 RBI and 19 runs scored. In her sophomore season, she hit .320 with a .534 OBP as Joliet Catholic finished second in the state. She was named ESCC all-conference and to the all-area team. Schlageter has also excelled in the classroom, being named an NFCA All-American Scholar. A two-sport athlete, Schlageter also played girls basketball for three seasons. In the club circuit, Schlageter competed with National Premier. Schlageter also has a family athletic connection as her father, Steve, played baseball at Kentucky. It doesn't stop there as her sister Ava is committed to become a collegiate swimmer at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and her brother T.J. is committed to play baseball at Louisville as the Schlageter triplets all enter Division I athletic programs this fall.

PEORIA, Ill. – As the Ohio Valley Conference crowned its 2025 tournament champion on Saturday, there was an additional piece of hardware granted to the Tennessee Tech softball team as sophomore outfielder Alina Schlageter was named to the OVC All-Tournament Team. The fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers in the tournament earned one spot on the all-conference squad and their selections were made in tandem with the head coaches, sports information contacts and OVC staff. The champions received four spots on the team, the runner-up three and the third-place team two.

Moving into double-elimination play, the Golden Eagles had a tough outing in the second game as the defending OVC champs topped Tech (20-34) 6-0.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team wrapped up a spot in next week’s Ohio Valley Conference tournament on Saturday as the Golden Eagles opened their series against Morehead State with a 10-2 win in five innings. The originally scheduled start of noon was pushed back nearly seven hours before the game got underway and Morehead State took a quick lead with a two-run home run for Kendra Lewis, but that was it for the visiting Eagles (8-39, 6-18 Ohio Valley Conference).

CHARLES, Mo. – Tennessee Tech saw Lindenwood hold on to take both ends of the doubleheader on Saturday as the Golden Eagles fell 2-1 in the day’s opener, then was held to just three hits in the second game, falling 7-3. Tech (16-31, 8-15 Ohio Valley Conference) got two of its four hits in the first game from Abby Shoulders, who went 2-for-4, while Olivia Evans and Sydney Kirby also had base knocks.

The Golden Eagles (16-29) return to conference action on Saturday as they head to Lindenwood for their last OVC road series of the regular season.

Makayli Harris hit two home runs in the contest, then Emily York held off some of the Redhawks’ top hitters to claim the victory.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech’s offense continued to shine on Sunday as the Golden Eagles completed the three-game sweep over Western Illinois with a 12-3 run-rule victory over the Leathernecks at Tech Softball Field. The win gives Tech (10-19, 4-5 Ohio Valley Conference) its first three-game league sweep for since April 24, 2022, when the Golden Eagles took all three games against Tennessee State.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The offense came through in a big way for the Tennessee Tech softball team as the Golden Eagles claimed a pair of victories over Western Illinois on Saturday, rallying to tie the day’s first game in the bottom of the seventh, then won in the ninth 5-4. Tech then run-ruled the visitors in game two 14-6. The Golden Eagles (9-19, 3-5 Ohio Valley Conference) will close out the series against the Leathernecks on Sunday. First pitch has been moved up to 11 a.m. with rain in the forecast. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required) with Dylan Vazzano on the call. Tech collected 11 hits in game one and 14 in game two, hitting .439 on the day with Abbee Klinefelter driving in four runs on the day on a 4-for-6 effort, Sydney Kirby collected four hits and Makayli Harris three. Ashley Capelouto also drove in three in the twinbill.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After getting a pair of wins last week at the UNCG Invitational, the Tennessee Tech softball team is back on the road this weekend as they travel to Bowling Green for the Hilltopper Spring Fling at Western Kentucky. Tech (6-6) will take on Evansville twice in the event, including a 12:30 p.m. matchup on Friday and a 5:30 p.m. rematch on Saturday, two contests against host Western Kentucky – 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, as well as a single game against Southeastern Conference foe Kentucky.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – True freshman pitcher Lainey Fitzgerald struck out 14 batters as the Tennessee Tech softball team gave George Washington its second loss of the season with a 4-1 victory in the Golden Eagles’ first action at the UNCG Invitational on Saturday. It is the most strikeouts in a single game for the Golden Eagles since Danielle Liberatore struck out the same number on April 1, 2017, against Austin Peay. Liberatore also holds the single-game record with 17 two years earlier against Morehead State. Fitzgerald improved to 2-0 on the season as she allowed just one run in the complete-game effort, yielding four hits and three walks. Of her 129 pitches in the game, 77 were for strikes.

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech softball team opened up the day Friday at the Army Columbus Classic with a big victory over the tournament host, but ran into a speedbump with undefeated Syracuse in the nightcap to end the day with a split. Tech (4-3) defeated Army 9-0 in five innings in the opener, then fell to Syracuse 3-0 later in the day. The Golden Eagles will face the Black Nights again Saturday at 9 AM Central, then will take on the Orange once more at 2 PM.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Evansville tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, but the Tennessee Tech softball team was able to take advantage of four Purple Ace errors – including three in the top of the eighth – to claim a 7-4 victory to wrap up play at the Furman Paladin Invitational on Sunday. The Golden Eagles head back to Cookeville with a 3-2 record before hitting the road again next weekend for the Army tournament in Columbus, Ga.

Tech then fell 5-3 to Stonehill in the second game of the day.
