2022 (Freshman): Key saw action in 10 games, starting six ... batted .167 on the year with three hits in 18 at-bats ... drove in one run and scored four times.

HIGH SCHOOL: A standout at Livingston Academy for former Tennessee Tech catcher (2002-2005) and Lady Wildcat head coach Kacy Bennett, Key helped lead LA to a District 8-AA title, while claiming numerous district awards, including Freshman of the Year, All-District, Defensive Player of the Year and tournament MVP. Key was also named to the TNSCA Middle Tennessee All-Star team and All-State, while also picked to the Rocky Top West All-Star Team. She also helped lead the Tennessee Mojo club team to the ASA National Championship and won the USA Jo Cup national title.

This past season, she batted .500 with a .571 on-base percentage, while collecting 20 RBI, 29 runs, three home runs, 10 doubles and a triple. She ended her prep career with 154 total hits and 67 RBI. She is the sister of Jarrett Key, who currently plays for the Golden Eagle football team.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After a run-ruled contest in the first game of the day, Tennessee Tech took a 7-2 lead into the fifth inning of Saturday’s second game against Southern Indiana, but the host Screaming Eagles rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh and walk off with an 8-7 victory to take both ends of the doubleheader. Tech (6-44, 2-21 Ohio Valley Conference) closes out the regular season on Sunday afternoon at noon. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required). In game one, USI (20-21, 13-9 OVC) used Josie Newman to great effect, holding the Golden Eagles to just two hits and three walks as she struck out four. Ella Bishop and Haeli Bryson had the two hits in the contest.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As the Tennessee Tech softball team honored its senior players in its home finale against Tennessee State on Sunday, it was a game that seemed to feature everything from big defensive plays to big at-bats. It also seemed to echo the course of the Golden Eagles’ season as it was a back-and-forth contest then a fight to the finish. Trailing by one run heading into the seventh inning, Tennessee State struck for four runs in the top of the frame as light rain started to fall at Tech Softball Field and the Tigers were able to hold on for the 15-10 victory on Sunday afternoon.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Kaylan Cole picked up her fourth win of the season on Saturday and third in her last five appearances as the Tennessee Tech junior kept Tennessee State off the scoreboard until the seventh inning to claim a 7-1 victory in the first game of the doubleheader at Tech Softball Field. It was one big inning propelling the Golden Eagle offense with a six-run fifth inning, but it was the reverse in game two at the Tigers scored four runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie and earn a split with a 7-1 decision in the nightcap. Tech (6-41, 2-18 Ohio Valley Conference) will play TSU (17-24-1, 8-11 OVC) in the weekend finale for Senior Day on Sunday. With that fielder’s choice play, the Tennessee Tech softball team finally got back into the win column, erasing an 18-game losing streak with an 8-0 run-rule victory on Tuesday night. Tech (4-38) dropped the first game 11-3. The Golden Eagles return to Ohio Valley Conference action on Saturday and Sunday at SIUE, weather permitting.

The Golden Eagle defense, powered by a solid performance from Kaylan Cole, stranded 14 Eastern Illinois runners in a 3-2 defeat in game one, while Callie Piper, in a complete game effort, kept Tech within reach until the Panthers scored runs in the final three innings to take a 7-2 win in the finale. Tech scored its two runs in the fifth inning as Jordan Key hit a two-out double to right center, then Brooklyn Stewart roped a single up the middle, sending Key’s pinch-runner, Brooklin Richardson, to third.
